The house
Made to be the one thing you notice.
Tantou began with a frustration: most jewelry is designed to go with everything, which means it says nothing. We wanted the opposite — pieces with enough presence to carry a look on their own, made well enough to wear every day.

Small runs, on purpose
Each design is produced in batches of a few hundred. It keeps the finishing work in human hands, and it means a piece you buy won't be on every third person you pass. When a run sells through, the next one is never quite identical.
Sculpture first
Every piece starts as a form problem, not a fashion one. We prototype in brass until the silhouette holds from every angle — front, profile, and the three-quarter view nobody designs for.
Materials & care
What it's made of
- 18k gold vermeil
- A heavy 2.5-micron layer of 18k gold over recycled sterling silver — five times the thickness of standard plating, so the finish holds for years rather than months.
- Recycled base metals
- Every piece starts from recycled sterling silver or brass. No newly mined material enters the collection.
- Finished by hand
- Hammering, polishing and final inspection are done by hand, one piece at a time. It's why the runs are small.
Care
Put your jewelry on last and take it off first. Keep it away from perfume, chlorine and prolonged sunlight, store it dry in the pouch it arrived in, and bring the shine back with the enclosed polishing cloth. Treated this way, the vermeil will hold for years.
